Winter and spring dates and times have been posted to the TCG website. More dates will be added soon. Consider bringing your class out to the comm garden so they can learn about community gardens, organic gardening, composting, drip irrigation, and sustainable urban agriculture. The community garden is at 4105 Crowell Ave (behind the church), 2 blocks north of campus. TCG is a local nonprofit set up to establish community gardens in Turlock. https://www.turlockcommunitygardens.org/ Turlock Community Gardens and CSUS will be co-hosting a conference, Rooting for Change: A Conference on Urban Agriculture in the Central Valley, Saturday March 5, 2022 at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. Topics will include: community and school gardens, food waste and composting, organic gardening, urban green space, biodiversity, and urban agriculture as part of the solution to the climate crisis. Plot rent is $120/year, which pays for water, insurance, and supplies. The TCG is a large organic garden 2 blocks north of CSUS. It has large compost bins, free compost, a shed with shared tools, and a drip irrigation system on automatic timer. Community gardeners are expected to participate in several work days/year.
