Subject: CSU Symposium -- proposal deadline extended

Dear FDC & Friends,

Ed Nuhfer pointed out that the semester campuses are not even back until
later in January, so the proposal deadline has been extended until
February 1! If you have not already sent the announcement out, please
use this one instead.

Thank you,

Victoria

Proposals will be peer-reviewed.

The pre-conference workshop is a new feature of this year's symposium.
Join Dr. Jackie Dewar of Loyola Marymount University, a former Carnegie
Foundation CASTL scholar, for an intense, engaging afternoon about doing
publishable research into student learning in your own classroom or lab.
No extra charge. Limited to 40 participants, register early
<http://www.csupomona.edu/~facultycenter/symposium/registration.shtml> .

Our plenary speaker is Dr. Ed Prather of Arizona State University. Ed
and his colleagues (including Cal Poly Pomona's own Alex Rudolph) have
shown conclusively that interactive learning and classroom engagement
help students to learn better, even in huge classes. Ed is a fantastic
speaker, don't miss this opportunity!
