He had the best time of anyone between the Mississippi river and I-5 wearing 
his own lucky blue shorts.

Congratulations to Dr. Silverman for his amazing achievement, especially 
considering that he is a member of the second nerdiest department (*1) at the 
University.

(*1) [Editor] He used to claim that he was a member of the nerdiest department 
(a most desirable position) at CSUS, but that statement was challenged by the 
Mathematics Department.  The issue was settled by a grueling arm-wrestling 
match lasting three hours and 22 minutes. The female member of the 
Mathematics Department beat him and hence the CS Department is only the 
second nerdiest.
